Tributes flocked for the former American skier of the NCAA Ellery ‘Ellie’ Curtis, who died on Saturday at 26 after having undergone a head injury at the Palisades Tahoe Resort in Olympic Valley, California.
Curtis was said to have been declared dead at the scene of the Lake Tahoe region before the local police had time to respond to a distress call at 3:45 p.m., according to the Times.
Curtis was a second selection of entirely American team in the giant discipline in slalom as a senior in Dartmouth in 2022.
The former skier of the Ivy League obtained national recognition by ranking eighth in the event at the NCAA championships.
The Junior Curtis season in 2021 was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with its return to the slopes of the Big Green.
Curtis would have undergone the fatal injury on the Ahhh path fell on the elevator KT-22 of Palisades. The ski patrol responded for the first time on the scene in a few minutes, per powder.
