Trevor Noah announces he is leaving The Daily Show

Trevor Noah leaves a great void at the end of the evening.

The 38-year-old comedian has announced plans to step down as host of Comedy Central The daily show after seven seasons during a taping of the show on September 29.

“I realized that after seven years my time was up,” he revealed to a shocked studio audience. “But in the most beautiful way, honestly. I’ve loved hosting this show. It’s been one of my biggest challenges. It’s been one of my biggest joys. I’ve loved trying to figure out how make people laugh even when the stories are particularly s–ty on the worst days. We laughed together, we cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it’s time.

Noah said the pandemic has allowed him to see his life in a new light.

“I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road. Getting up was over. When I came back there, I realized there was another part of my life that I wanted keep exploring,” he said. “I miss learning other languages. I miss going to other countries and doing shows. I miss being everywhere doing everything.”
