“Obviously, the president on the platform is emblematic, isn’t it?” Travis explained on a June 2023 episode of its New heights podcast. “It’s iconic, and the way he usually addresses the nation is, ‘To my fellow Americans.’ That’s all I wanted to say, man.”
He added: “That’s all. I just wanted to go – I shouldn’t have started with, ‘I’ve always wanted to do this.’ ” “
Like his brother Jason Kelce noted on the podcast: “If you had started with ‘My Fellow Americans,’ that would have been a real drag on the show.” I don’t think they would have kicked you out.
The Kansas City Chiefs player also gave Patrick special thanks for knowing he was “in over my head.”
“Shout out to Pat, man,” he said. “For stopping me from embarrassing myself on that podium in front of the world.”
