Trailer “ The Phoenic Scheme ”: Wes Anderson’s latest feature

Benicio Del Toro and Mia Threpleton portray a complex father-daughter in the trailer for “The Phoenic Scheme”, the latest feature by Wes Anderson.

Del Toro plays the ZSA-Zsa Korda business magnate, one of the richest men in Europe. Threrapleton embodies her daughter, a nun named Sister Liesel, with Michael Cera like her tutor Bjorn Lund. The film also presents Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Jeffrey Wright, Rice Ahmed, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Mathieu Amalric, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis and Benedict Cumberbatch.

“The Phoenician program” was shot in Germany. Anderson co-wrote the story with Roman Coppola, and Alexandre Deplat composed the score.

Anderson’s most recent features were “Asteroid City” in 2023 and “The French Dispatch” in 2021, and he won his first Oscar for the short film, “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” in 2024.

Anderson produced the film via American Empirical Pictures, with Jeremy Dawson and John Peet, as well as Steven Rales via an Indian brush. Focus Feature distributes the film and was previously behind the distribution of “Asteroid City” and “Moonrise Kingdom” by Anderson.

Anderson is known for a coherent and specific visual style through his filmography, but the filmmaker commented in 2023 that “the only thing I never think, really, when I make a film is myself or my own style, my voice”.

“I think of what is new for this film, how can I make this film the best possible, how can I bring together the biggest employees,” continued Anderson. “And yet, every time I make a film, the first thing people say is:” You can sure to say who has done this one! “”

The film will have a limited release on May 30 and will develop wider on June 6.
