Tractor Supply Co. Drops ‘Woke’ Policies After Backlash: ‘We’ve Taken This Feedback to Heart’

One of America’s largest rural supply retailers announced Thursday that it is ending all “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion” programs and will no longer support LGBTQ and climate change causes.

Tractor Supply Co. released a statement on social media detailing its new direction after three weeks of backlash on social media and others regarding its previous attachments to left-wing causes that are not popular with its customer base.

“We work hard to live up to our mission and values ​​every day and represent the values ​​of the communities and customers we serve. We’ve heard from customers that we’ve let them down. We’ve taken that feedback to heart. Moving forward, we’ll insure our operations and tie them directly to our business,” the company said. wrote THURSDAY.

The statement included five points distancing the company from a series of policies under CEO Hal Lawton that were recently highlighted by journalist Robby Starbuck.

Now, Tractor Supply will “eliminate DEI roles and abandon our current DEI goals while ensuring a respectful environment.”

The company said its corporate giving would “focus on rural American priorities, including agricultural education, animal welfare, veterans’ causes and being a good neighbor, and would cease sponsoring non-commercial activities like pride festivals and election campaigns.”

The Tennessee company will also break with the widespread practice of U.S. companies submitting data to the Human Rights Campaign for the LGBTQ advocacy group’s Corporate Equality Index.

Efforts to combat global warming were also abandoned, as Tractor Supply promised to “remove its carbon emissions targets and focus on its land and water conservation efforts.”
