Tourist in detention for trying to access one of the most isolated tribes in the world, brings Diet Coke – WSB -TV Channel 2

An American tourist was in police custody after pretending to have tried a limited territory of North Sentinel, trying to meet one of the most isolated tribes in the world.

Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov had a coconut with him and a box of diet coke, officials said in India. The remote island is one of the country’s Andaman islands.

Although arrested, he has not yet been charged.

In the United States, officials said they were aware of the situation and monitored it.

Anyone is forbidden to go to the place where the feelings live to protect indigenous peoples, protect them from external diseases and protect their lifestyle. We do not know how many people are in the community, because estimates go from dozens of people to hundreds.

The officials said that Polyakov had shocked the island’s shore several times on March 29 to attract the attention of civilization before going to the ground.

“He briefly landed for about five minutes, left the offerings on the shore, collected sand samples and recorded a video before returning to his boat,” said Chef Hgs Dhaliwal. “An examination of his images of GoPro cameras showed his entry and landing in the restricted North Sentinel Island.”

It does not seem to have contacted someone from the tribe. The police were alerted from the presence of Polyakov by a fisherman on the way back through the Baie du Bengale in the south of Andaman.

The officials said that the carbonated drink was not found on the island, but research is under distance from the island, using boats and binoculars.

Polyakov had visited the region two other times in recent months – once in October 2024 when he tried to use an inflatable kayak, but was arrested by hotel staff and again in January.

The last attempt, Polyakov also used an inflatable motorcycle with an engine to navigate 22 sea miles outdoors.

“This conceives that someone could be so reckless and silly,” said international survival director Carolina Pearce. “The actions of this person have not only endangered their own life, but they put the life of the whole tribe felt the tribe.

The Sentinelese will make great efforts to protect their house, in particular by targeting an arc and an arrow on a helicopter.

The American missionary John Allen Chau was presumed killed in 2018 after illegally accessing the beach. His body has never been recovered and no investigation has occurred because it is illegal to go to the island. The officials thought he had been shot by arrows.

According to Survival International, more than 100 tribes not disputed in the world.
