There’s nothing better than teammates who always have your back.
And Eric Dier made his pledge to help Tottenham colleague Heung-min Son win the Premier League Golden Boot at the next level by jokingly asking Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul if Mohamed Salah had been on the phone.
Krul, who faced Spurs with Norwich on the final day of the season, made plenty of saves to deny Son, who was competing with Liverpool’s Salah for the top scorer gong.
And Dier wasn’t too happy with the Dutch keeper’s impressive display against his team-mate, so asked him if he was in cahoots with Son’s rival!
“What does Salah give you?” Dier twice asked the Norwich man, jokingly implying that the Egyptian persuaded him to do everything he could to prevent the South Korea international from scoring.
Krul looked confused by the defender’s questioning, which may have been enough to fend off the goalscorer for the rest of the match, which ended 5-0 against the north Londoners.
Son scored two of those goals which first put him ahead of Salah, before the Egyptian superstar put his side ahead of Anfield.
The pair ended up sharing the Golden Boot, but Dier can argue he deserves some credit for his teammate’s award after his clever tactics at Carrow Road.

And, as well as winning the Golden Boot, former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes Son should have also won the division’s Player of the Season award.
“He’s playing in a team that’s not as good as Manchester City and Liverpool so it’s harder for him to get chances,” he told talkSPORT.
“So I just think about what Son has done this season, the goals he’s scored – left-footed screamers, right-footed screamers, he can score any type of goal.
“I would have given it to Son myself, but Kevin De Bruyne was exceptional as well.
“And Salah, his stats speak for themselves – he has the most assists this season, his goals too. You can see the reason why Salah might also feel uncomfortable.
He added: “If you put Son in a better team, if he had more chances, if Spurs were higher up the pitch every game like Manchester City and Liverpool.
“I think Son might have scored 25 or 30 goals this season because his finishing is one of the best in the Premier League.
“He gets into any Premier League team and any team in the world. Son, he’s exceptional and Spurs are lucky to have him.
