Tottenham in major blow as star defender Destiny Udogie is ruled out for rest of season due to injury

Destiny Udogie has dealt a potential blow to Tottenham’s top four prospects after announcing her season is over due to injury.

The 21-year-old became a fan favorite in north London during his debut season, where he established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

He was even named in talkSPORT presenter Mark Goldbridge’s team of the season after scoring two goals and three assists in 28 top-flight appearances.

Such is his impressive form that he has been rewarded with a new long-term contract at Tottenham until 2030.

But he will play no part in Spurs’ remaining six games, after saying on Instagram that injury had brought his campaign to a premature end.

Sharing several photos of himself in a hospital bed, the Italy international said: “The plans of the heart belong to the man.

“But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

“An injury ended my season prematurely.

“That doesn’t take away from my gratitude to everyone who has supported me this year.”

Italy will now be sweating on their fitness as they prepare to defend their European Championship in Germany this summer.

But most importantly, Ange Postecoglou will need to make changes to his back line as Spurs look to secure Champions League football.

Tottenham are currently three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa but have a game in hand against the Midlands side.

Jason Cundy criticizes Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou for not having a ‘plan B’ and believes Spurs won’t win silverware playing their style of football.

The club’s next outing is a north London derby against Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They then face difficult trips to Chelsea and Liverpool, while they still have to face Manchester City.
