Tottenham fans were left into question Sunday after Lucas Bergvall’s goal against Southampton was excluded after a five -minute Var check.
The midfielder pulled home nearby after Cristian Romero hosted his head on his way with a free kick.
But Romero was tried for being an offside fraction when he won the header, which led the Var excluding Tottenham’s goal.
Stockley Park assistants took four flagrant minutes and 53 seconds to decide that Romero was offside.
The Premier League published a statement shortly after the incident to explain the decision.
They wrote on their account @plmatchcentre x: “Var checked the call for the referee’s objective – and established that Romero was in an offside position in construction and recommended that the objective is prohibited.
However, fans were not necessarily frustrated by the outcome of the journal, but rather how long it took the Var to make a decision. Supporters went to social networks to evacuate their frustrations around the incident.
On Sunday’s incident occurred only a few days after Ange Postoccoou said football was no longer the sport he knew and that he expects to watch fewer and “find another hobn” at the end of his career.
The Australian had celebrated the equalizer of his team in the second half against Chelsea in an animated way before she was excluded following a Var review. Spurs continued to lose the match 1-0 Thursday evening.
