Tory Lanez was hospitalized on Monday after being stabbed in California prison where he was serving 10 years for the musician Megan Thee Stallion.
The Canadian rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is in good condition after being attacked by another detainee in a housing unit of California Correctional Institution of Tehachapi around 7:20 am, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The alleged striker, identified as Santino Casio, was placed in limited accommodation while waiting for an investigation, said the CDCR.

A message published on Lanez’s official Instagram account that night said that he had been stabbed 14 times, “including 7 injuries behind his back, 4 against his chest, 2 at the back of his head, and 1 on the left side of his face.” He said his two lungs collapsed, but his condition improved.
“He now breathes alone,” he reads. “Despite the pain, he speaks normally, in good humor, and deeply grateful to God that he draws through.”
The details of the attack remain rare. CDCR officials said that the prison investigation unit and the Kern County District Office were investigating. NPR contacted the DA office for more information.
Why is it in prison? A refreshment on the case
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023 after a divider and high trial which ended with his conviction for three crime accusations: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, possession of a hidden and not recorded firearm and negligent release of a firearm.
The accusations arise from an incident that occurred early in July 2020 while Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion left a party at the swimming pool in Los Angeles. Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, accused even having pulled her in both feet as she left their vehicle after an argument.

Stallion said in an Instagram post for a few days later that she had been shot wounds that evening, but only identified as the attacker that the following month. Lanez – who pleaded not guilty to the trial – then released an album with words keeping his innocence and survey on stallion’s claims.
In October, the Los Angeles County District Prosecutor’s Office accused the crime paths with a semi-automatic firearm, and a judge made a protective order to keep it at least 100 meters from Stallion. He violated the prescription the following summer.
The rappers continued to rush into public, referring to the incident in the words of the songs. Meanwhile, media personalities, other high -level rappers and fans of the two artists cast a doubt about the version of the other’s events, with many ballot and blameworthy stallions.

The December 2022 trial of Lanez divided the community of hip-hop and internet, raising broader questions such as the ill-treatment of black women in industry and the criminal justice system. Stallion testified during the trial that the shooting – and the reaction that followed – had harmed her physical and mental health, and she feared that it also harms her career.
“I can’t hold conversations with people for a long time. I don’t feel like wanting to be on this earth,” she said. “I would like him to have just pulled me and kill me, if I knew that I should go through this torture.”
The one calls on his sentence but was denied the surety in the meantime.
His legal problems continued behind bars
Stallion alleys that Lanez harassed him by prison through substitutes, resulting in an extension of the prohibition order against him.
In a petition deposited at the Los Angeles Superior Court in December, his legal team wrote that he “continues to force him to trauma and repeated victimization”, according to the Associated Press.
“Even now, behind bars, Mr. Peterson shows no signs of stopping”, reads the petition, that the AP obtained.

He reports that the petition indicates that the Lanez prison newspapers show that he used third parties – including a specific blogger – to harass the stallion online by making false complaints such as the pistol and the ball in the case lacked.
Lanez’s lawyer wrote in a legal file that the two had not been in direct contact, claiming that the incarceration of his client means that there is “no more form of current or future threat” for the stallion.
A judge granted the stallion request in January for a prohibition order until 2030.
