CINCINNATI – Two of the best recovery choices of the Bengals of Cincinnati were observers during the minicamp recruit of the team on Friday.
The defensive winger Shemar Stewart, a first -round choice, and the second Demetrius Knight Jr., a second round choice, were held in uniform and looked at exercises inside the Paycor stadium. Both are the only members of the Cincinnati draft class who have not yet signed their recruit contracts.
Bengal coach Zac Taylor quoted the delay in their lack of participation.
“They are just browsing their contracts at the moment,” said Taylor after one hour training.
It is not uncommon for the draft choices do not have their contracts, which have split wages, not signed at the start of the training sessions while the team and the player marked some of the details in each agreement. As a general rule, the resolution in these situations occurs while other players written in the League finalize their respective agreements, which give the negotiation parties an idea of the work parameters for the final details.
“I just decided not to sign these papers … I hate being on the sidelines while watching everyone do work.”
Shemar Stewart, choice of the 1st round of Bengals, said that he hoped that his contract signed next week.

But that left Stewart and Knight on Friday. Stewart told journalists that he “had decided not to sign these papers” and preferred to be an active participant instead of a passive participant.
“I would like to be part of the team,” said Stewart. “I hate being on the touch by looking at everyone that everyone works.”
Cincinnati will resume the intersaison training sessions on Monday as it will continue phase 2 of the voluntary training sessions.
Bengals are based on Stewart, the 17th choice in total, and Knight, the 49th overall choice, to be immediate contributors. Stewart can increase a rush to the passes led by the defensive winger Trey Hendrickson, who is looking for a contract extension on an agreement that expires after the 2025 season. Friday, Taylor had no update on this situation.
Knight could potentially compete as the team’s departure secondary in front of Logan Wilson. The current secondary, Germaine Pratt, asked for a job but also does not seem to be in the long -term plans of the team.
Cincinnati drafted Knight and Barrett Carter de Clemson in this year’s draft.
