Top NFL prospect and former Texas defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat is arrested for drunk driving just over two weeks before the 2024 draft.

NFL Draft prospect T’Vondre Sweat was arrested Sunday in Austin, Texas, for drunken driving.

The 22-year-old, the 2023 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Outland Trophy winner, was booked into the Travis County Jail following his arrest by Austin police.

The former Texas defensive lineman, expected to be a top defensive pick in this month’s draft, faces a Class B misdemeanor, punishable in Texas by a fine of up to $2,000 and 180 days in jail, according to ESPN.

The 6-foot-4, 362-pound defender declared himself a draft candidate after helping the Longhorns reach their first College Football Playoff appearance.

Last season, he recorded two sacks, eight tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries, four TDs and 45 total tackles, earning him the Outland Trophy as the nation’s top interior lineman.

ESPN ranks Sweat as the No. 3 defensive tackle prospect for the draft, which will take place in Detroit, Michigan, April 25-27.

Sweat, who is the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles passer Josh Sweat, likely won’t face any discipline from the league because the arrest occurred before he joined the NFL.

However, the incident could be a major blow to his draft stock, with NFL teams possibly being put off by his arrest.
