SAN ANTONIO — Driving through his border district last week, Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Tex.) said he just wanted to get things done for his constituents.
During his last four years in office, Gonzales brought in more than $127 million for community projects in Texas’ 23rd District, which stretches 820 miles across the U.S.-Mexico border, d ‘El Paso to the northern Rio Grande Valley. Growing up here helped him craft one of the most conservative border bills, even though some far-right lawmakers say it should have been tougher.
