Tom Hardy’s latest Spider-Man film ends with a bang

They are Venom, and they are officially back – Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” the final film in the Spider-Man villain trilogy.

Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, better known as Venom, the brain-eating symbiote villain from the Spider-Man comics. Sony presents “The Last Dance” as “the final film in the trilogy”. According to the logline, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo is forced to make a devastating decision that will end Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

In the trailer, Hardy faces a massive symbiote alien from Venom’s home planet, in addition to being chased by government agents. There’s plenty of symbiote action, as well as a scene where Hardy rides a super-fast, Venomized horse. Joining Hardy is “Ted Lasso” star Juno Temple and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Recently, fans saw Venom teased in the MCU’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” post-credits scene. In it, the villain felt the effects of Dr. Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) multiverse spell, which transported different Spider-Man villains into the main MCU. At the end of “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” the symbiotic villain was teleported into the MCU and saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on a newscast, but in “No Way Home” he is sent back to his universe – but not before leaving behind a slimy piece of his symbiote.

“Venom 3” was confirmed by Sony at CinemaCon 2022 following the success of its two predecessors. The original “Venom” film grossed $856 million at the global box office, while “Let There Be Carnage” grossed $502 million worldwide amid a pandemic.

Kelly Marcel, screenwriter of “Venom” and “Let There Be Carange,” makes her directorial debut with the franchise’s third installment. She also wrote the screenplay alongside Hardy. Marcel and Hardy produce alongside Avi Arad, Hutch Parker, Amy Pascal and Matt Tolmach.

“Venom: The Last Dance” hits theaters on October 25.
