Tom Brady says Netflix jokes affected his kids and parents

Tom Brady appeared on “The Pivot Podcast” and admitted that some of the jokes made during his Netflix roast affected his children and so he wouldn’t sign up to be roasted again. The NFL icon has three children, a son with Bridget Moynahan and a son and daughter with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. Although Brady didn’t specify which jokes upset his children during the Netflix roast, many of the comedians in attendance took aim at his marriage and divorce from Bündchen.

“I liked it when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids,” Brady admitted on the podcast. “That’s the hardest part of… like the bittersweet aspect when you do something that you think is one way and all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of how it affected the people I care about most in the world.

“It makes you, in some ways, a better parent going through this,” Brady continued. “Sometimes you are naive. You do not know. When I signed up for this… I like it when people make fun of me. I always said that when I was going through the Deflategate stuff, I watched three things on TV: Premiere League football, golf and comedy shows. Every time I turned on SportsCenter, it was like, are you kidding me? I just want to laugh. I wanted to do the roast because Jeff Ross became someone I knew. But we don’t always see the bigger picture. »

Brady then called the Netflix roast “a good lesson for me as a parent,” adding, “I’m going to be a better parent as I move forward because of this.” At the same time, I’m happy that everyone who was there had a good time. If we don’t laugh, we cry. We should have more fun. What do we like? We love to laugh in the locker room. Let’s do more, love each other, and celebrate each other’s success.

The Netflix roast of Tom Brady has proven to be a huge hit with subscribers. The event was one of the signature events of Netflix’s Is a Joke Fest and was hosted by Kevin Hart and roast master Jeff Ross. Comedians such as Nikki Glaser, Tom Segura, Andrew Schulz, Bert Kreischer, Tony Hinchcliffe and Sam Jay participated in the roast alongside Brady’s former teammates Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Drew Bledsoe and more.

Glaser particularly targeted Brady and his divorce during his roast. One of his jokes was about Bündchen starting a relationship with his jiu-jitsu instructor after Brady.

“Tom Brady. Five-time Super Bowl MVP, most career wins, most career touchdowns,” Glaser joked. “You have seven rings – well eight, now that Gisèle has given hers back. The only thing dumber than saying yes to that roast was when you said, ‘Hey baby, you should try jiu-jitsu.’
