Todd Chrisley Ordered to Pay $755,000 After Losing Lawsuit
Todd Chrisley faces new legal problems.
The former reality TV star, who is currently serving a year in prison for bank fraud and tax evasion, was ordered by a Georgia court to pay $755,000 to a former Department of Revenue special agent. Georgia (GDOR), according to documents obtained by E.! News.
The verdict was delivered on April 4 in Amy Doherty-Heinzein favor of Chrisley, who owes “$350,000 in compensatory damages, $170,000 in punitive damages and $235,000 in litigation costs, for a total of $755,000.”
Doherty-Heinze filed a defamation suit against the Chrisley knows best former student in July 2021, alleging that, according to documents obtained by People, in 2020, he “began attacking and accusing him of a multitude of crimes and wrongdoing” as part of the GDOR investigation into him and his wife Julie Chrisleywhich began three years earlier.
According to the complaint, Chrisley “launched a social media campaign against GDOR and some of its employees, claiming that the investigation was illegal and poorly motivated.” Doherty-Heinze claimed she was targeted in the social media campaign despite not being involved in the investigation.
