Beyoncé’s mother underwent a tumorectomy to eliminate the cancer tumor
Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother and Solange, revealed on Tuesday that she had a private battle against breast cancer. During an interview CBS MorningsKnowles said cancer was found after a delayed meeting on mammography.
“I have always tried to take care of myself. I was just incredulous, “she said.
Knowles said that she had missed a routine mammography meeting during the covid-19 pandemic and only reprogrammed her last year, almost four years later. When she went for screening, the doctors found two tumors in her left breast, one of whom was benign, while the other had stadium cancer. (The American Cancer Society recommends a mammography every 1 to 2 years for women over 55.)
Knowles has undergone a tumorectomy to eliminate the cancer tumor in August and is now without cancer.
“I was nervous,” she recalls what she felt before surgery. Fortunately, she had her daughters by her side for support and comfort. “They started joking with me,” she said about Beyoncé and Solange. “I’m starting to laugh. I go out of my head.… Then I said, “I am so happy that you are all there. And I thought of the song “Walk with me”, which they sang all the time. »»
In an interview PeopleKnowles said she “is fine” and wanted to be a lesson for other women.
“Without cancer and incredibly blessed that God allowed me to find him early,” she said. “I decided to share it because I think it’s a lot of lessons for other women,” she said. “And I think that as women, sometimes we are so busy and we are so wrapped, but you have to go and go through your test. Because if I had not passed my test early, I mean, I shiver to think what could have happened to me.”
