Tim Tszyu has restored his reputation and rekindled his international career with a brutal boost by the American Joey Spencer in Newcastle – but his wife was shocked just a few minutes after having recorded the TKO victory in the fourth round.
The referee stopped the fight of two minutes and 18 seconds after the round after the former world champion of Australia beat Spencer with a superb blitz in the head and body after adopting a very measured approach at the beginning.
Spencer had lost only once on 19 professional fights and was to be a huge threat to the hopes of Tszyu’s return.
But the Australian promised a redemption and duly delivered on Sunday.
The desperately necessary victory was the first of Tszyu in 18 months, after damaging defeats in the world title in the United States last year in Sebastian Fundora and his shocking third round Knock-out in the hands of Bakhram Murtazaliev.
The impressive victory set up a probable blockbuster with Keith Thurman after the pair was to fight in Las Vegas last March, before the great American withdrew with a torn bicep muscle.

Tszyu paid attention to the first round before starting to dominate in the third – then he was unleashed in the fourth and forced the American corner to throw in the towel
During his first fight in three years, the former unified world champion Thurman hit Brock Jarvis in Sydney to prove his own world relevance, before calling Tszyu, who is now eager for a revenge match, telling Thurman, “ signs the contract, Big Boy ”, as he was interviewed in the ring just after the victory.
But his wife Alexandra was shocked as he continued to address the crowd.
With the victory, but ensuring that Tszyu will hold his next fights in the United States or in the biggest Australian places that his happy fighter field in Newcastle, he paid tribute to local fans while warning them that he could no longer put on them.
“I hope that when I have small children, we can continue this thing,” he said to the crowd-while his wife looked horrified and agitated his hands while saying: “No! ‘No!’ As she stood behind him.
Tszyu’s latest conquest improved his counting at 25 victories and two defeats, while also extending the remarkable record of his family in Australia to 51-0, with his father of the Kostya renown temple (18-0) and his younger brother Nikita (10-0) also undefeated on home law.
Burned while trying to cross Mountazaliev in Florida in October, a vigilant tszyu barely punch in the opening tour on Sunday.
He caught Spencer with a beautiful left in the second, then took the third round with a powerful combination for the American brawler to withdraw.
It was an effort outside the characteristic of Spencer, which was at the end of a few words angry with his father and coach Jason at the end of the first round.

The very well rated American did not retaliate quite often or effectively while Tszyu began to push him to the strings from the second round, using a wand and a well -targeted blow to a large effect and also to mark with uppercuts.
In the third, Tszyu walked directly on Spencer with little respect for what was dismissed for him, and landing with more and more heavy gunshots when his opponent looked physically and mentally exceeded.
The right eye of Spencer influenced and started to cut at the beginning of the fourth, and it was mounted throughout the round before Tszyu weighed on the ropes and unleashed a long dam which was only broken by one or two ineffective return shots.
The father of the American threw in the towel with his son still protecting himself and not looking groggy, but the result was only a matter of time, because Tszyu’s punches regularly hit the house on his jaw.
“We have taken over the city. We named it from my last name and presented a show. Thank you, “said Tszyu, referring to Newcastle nicknamed” Tszyucastle “when he fights there.
“I am blessed. Many fighters, they fight at different stages, but to have this type of scene, yes, it was a hell of a fight.
“I couldn’t make a third consecutive loss.
“But I hope I teach people if they fall and they go to the ground and when you knock the fan, you can always get up.
“Critics, they will always be there, but for me, I have proven myself and I have proven it to everyone in the world that I am back.
“I’m back, baby.
