(CBS DETROIT) – Detroit Tigers fans didn’t let the rain stop them from celebrating on Opening Day.
On Friday, CW50’s Cryss Walker caught up with the hookers at Eastern Market.

“Oh my God, we’re here because we haven’t been able to be here for two years,” said Jodi Wright, who traveled from Canada with a group of friends.
“It could be snowing and windy right now and it wouldn’t break everyone’s spirits,” Jesse Lee Gilley said.
“There is so much team spirit here at the moment. It’s unreal. Come on Tigers, that’s all I can say.
Hundreds of fans camped out at Eastern Market, toasting and enjoying the game.
“We haven’t done this for a long time,” said Cherie Mihoren.

“Last time was just for an average game but eventually we got to the opener post covid, no masks. Full of fun, free spirit, having so much fun.
Covid restrictions forced fans out of the stadium for two seasons. Last year, Comerica Park held opening day with limited seating due to social distancing requirements and face masks to keep fans safe.
The 2022 season brings some sense of normalcy back to America’s favorite pastime.
“It’s wonderful here, security personnel are on top of everything here to keep everyone safe,” Gilley said.
