Tiger Woods had an iconic ‘Putt and Point’ celebration in Valhalla during his 2000 PGA Championship victory

One of the coolest moments of Tiger Woods’ career happened at the PGA Championship more than two decades ago.

The legendary golfer was superb at Valhalla in 2000, when he was at the top of the golf world.

Woods, who is scheduled to play this week at the 2024 PGA Championship, was involved in a bitter battle with Bob May in 2000.

The duo entered the play-off at Valhalla in Louisville, Kentucky and Woods had a long putt to line up.

He knelt down and looked at the hole. Then the history of golf was once again marked by the great man.

Woods made his putt and knew it.

As the ball quickly approached the hole, Woods followed closely behind it.

He trotted after the ball, then pointed proudly at it as it fell into the hole, almost seeming to taunt it on the way down.

“He’s chasing. He’s chasing!” said the TV presenter. “I don’t believe it. And that one? I’ve never seen him do that.”

It was an instant classic golf moment and one that is regularly replayed on broadcasts nearly 25 years later.

PGA Tour star and Kentucky native Justin Thomas watched Woods’ shot in person.

“I was actually in the clubhouse watching it on TV when Tiger made that putt in the playoff,” Thomas said.

“As soon as he made the putt, the crowd went crazy.”

Woods birdied his first playoff hole, then birdied the next two to win the 2000 PGA Championship by one stroke in May.

He is now expected to play in this summer’s major and has already been spotted at Valhalla.
