Thursday Horse Racing Tips

  • WELL SOUTH
    2.05: Minella Double 6/1 (1pt)
  • WARWICK
    5.05: Of course 7/2 (1.5pts)
  • LINGFIELD
    2.20: Surveyor 13/8 (NAP – 2pts)
    2.50: Golden Light 7/2 (1pt)

Minella Double

A surprisingly high price for a horse who only made his first jump last time.

And was beaten by Loup de Maulde who won again while others also had more experience in obstacles.

He also had excuses last time, he was fine before stopping quickly after the fourth home game following a lost shoe, which can really hurt momentum and cause problems, especially during break-in.

He is expected to progress over fences in his second outing and could surprise a few with an equally big run under Fergus Gregory for trainer Olly Murphy.

He carries the higher weight but finds himself facing two horses struggling with weight increases after a few wins and could be exposed.

Of course, touch

And it’s another Murphy-trained horse at Warwick that looks to be the one to beat.

Of course, the tough guy has continued to progress since he began his career as a hurdler, slowly but surely increasing the weights to finally take up the chase in October.

He has restarted twice in a row now on what was his second run since wind surgery and his third run over fences.

He asserted his authority last time out by beating Magic Saint by seven lengths in February, who was listed at 4/1 and will look to continue a great relationship with jockey Dylan Johnston, a 5lb contender.

Surveyor

Finds a weaker run looking back on his first two starts which have all proven to be excellent form.

His latest was second to Spiritual in September and that winner placed quite well fourth in a Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket a few weeks later.

His debut is also full of horses who have gone on to win and score quite high, including Godolphin-owned Beautiful Love.

Raised to 1m for the first time and this Cheveley Park Stud filly is going to be popular thanks to these two races being the best form on the card.

Golden Light

Lumière D’Or should be suitable at 1m and perform well when it reappears in December after a short break.

She comes in with trainer James Tate on fire with three wins from just four runners in the last two weeks.

Meanwhile, Clifford Lee secures the jockey’s booking and takes five wins from 21 races with a strike rate of 24%.

Tate’s total success rate for this season alone stands at 43% with ten winners from 23 runners.
