Brossard-The Director General of Montreal Canadians, Kent Hughes, announced Tuesday that the team had accepted conditions of three years of entry-level contract (2024-25 to 2026-27) with striker Ivan Demidov.
Demidov participated in 65 games with Saint Petersburg Ska in the KHL this season, recording 19 goals and 30 assists, in addition to serving 22 minutes of penalty. The 6 -feet 1 inch striker and 192 LB added five points (3G, 2A) in six playoffs. The 49 points of Demidov set a new KHL record for the most points in a season by a U20 player (the previous record was 42 points, established by Kirill Kaprizov in 2016-17).
As a younger player to play all season with Saint Petersburg, Sergiyev Posad, native of Rus, led SKA in assists and points. Demidov was also appointed the recruit of the month of KHL three times this season, winning the honor in September, December and January.
Demidov was selected by the Canadians in the first round (5th in total) of the NHL 2024 draft.
