Three wounded in two separate Oakland shootings minutes apart

OAKLAND — Three people were injured in two shootings that occurred less than 10 minutes apart Wednesday evening in different East Oakland neighborhoods, authorities said.

All victims were in stable condition Thursday.

Police said the two shootings were not related.

Around 7:37 p.m. Wednesday, a 34-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were shot in the 1900 block of Auseon Avenue, a primarily residential neighborhood. The shooting activated a gunshot detection system.

Police said the two men, who they were told were a couple, had just parked a vehicle and were about to get out when someone started shooting at them.

The woman was injured in the face and the man in the leg, authorities said. The shooter fled before police arrived on scene. The two injured people were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
