Three US service members treated for pier-related injuries off Gaza (CENTCOM)

One service member is in critical condition, a defense official told ABC News.

Three U.S. service members were treated for injuries related to the U.S.-built pier off the coast of Gaza, known as JLOTS, or Joint Overshore Logistics Capability, according to U.S. Central Command.

Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, deputy commander of CENTCOM, did not provide details Thursday, saying only that the injuries were non-combat-related and that two of the service members had returned to duty, while the third was receiving treatment at a local Israeli hospital. .

A defense official told ABC News that the third service member was in critical condition and was injured aboard the USNS Benavidez, a U.S. Navy cargo ship. A U.S. official said it was a forklift accident.

The three service members were sent to Israeli medical facilities to receive further treatment, as they required more medical care than could be provided on U.S. ships offshore.

No further details were immediately released.
