Three people in a disabled van were killed in the accident in Buena Park

Three people in a disabled van were killed on Friday morning when their vehicle was hit by a tractor trailer truck on Highway 91 in Buena Park, authorities announced.

The van was arrested on the highway after being involved in a previous collision when it was struck by the tractor trailer truck shortly before 4 am, said Duane Graham, Patrol Officer of the California motorway .

The collision occurred on the side east of the highway near rue Valley View during rain conditions. The three adult occupants of the van died and there was no immediate information on their identity.

The driver of the tractor trailer truck stayed on the scene, said Graham.

The highway in the direction has been closed for several hours while the emergency teams responded to the scene. At 7:30 a.m., a track was open to traffic.

The cause of the accident remains under study. It was still too early to determine if the rain played a factor, said Graham.
