England are hoping to go all the way at Euro 2024 and an iconic anthem will once again be the soundtrack to their success.

“Three Lions” was first popularized in the late 90s, but has since found a new place as the song of choice for a new generation of English fans.

David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds first teamed up to create the sound of Euro 96 after releasing their track in May.

Germany captain Jurgen Klinsmann, who helped engineer a semi-final win over England en route to tournament glory, even told talkSPORT that his country loved the song so much he sang it to celebrate .

Nearly three decades on, loudspeakers across the country will still be blaring it as Gareth Southgate’s men fight for glory in Germany.

The title is linked to the Three Lions on England’s badge, while the 30-year injury was linked to the country’s success at the 1966 World Cup.

The tune was re-recorded as the unofficial anthem for the 1998 World Cup, but found a revival 20 years later at the 2018 World Cup.

Since then, England fans have used it to cheer on Harry Kane and co. at Euro 2020, at the World Cup in Qatar, and now this summer.

“Three Lions” has been rewritten several times since its release, including one with a Christmas twist before the Winter World Cup.
