Three Israelis injured by Israeli army in West Bank – Israel News

Three Israeli civilians were injured by IDF soldiers while riding in a vehicle at a checkpoint in the Beit El settlement near Ramallah in the West Bank on Monday evening.

The vehicle is said to have aroused suspicion. The victims are said to be aged 17, 18 and 24 respectively, according to KAN. The 18-year-old was shot in the shoulder and is in moderate condition, while the other two were lightly injured by shrapnel.

All three were evacuated for treatment, with the 18-year-old being evacuated to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Walla reported.

An investigation has been opened into the incident.

IDF Statements in the Investigation

As the soldiers were checking a suspicious motorcycle, a white vehicle with a yellow license plate arrived at the checkpoint and the suspects did not respond, the Israeli army said. The forces fired into the air and the three men began to flee. Eventually, one of the soldiers shot at the vehicle’s windshield, wounding two Israelis with shrapnel.

The IDF Spokesperson issued a statement after the incident: “IDF soldiers operating in the area recently fired on a vehicle identified by the forces as suspicious.

“After a preliminary investigation, it turned out that the shot was accidentally fired at an Israeli vehicle.”
