Three dead, including a child, in apparent murder-suicide in Lowell

The case is being investigated by Lowell Police, State Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

A Lowell man called police to tell them he shot and killed his wife and daughter before killing himself early Saturday morning, police said.

The man, who has not been publicly identified, called 911 around 6:40 a.m. Saturday morning to report that he had shot his wife and child in a Warren Street apartment, the Middlesex District Attorney said , Marian Ryan, in a press release.

Lowell police went to the apartment and found a deceased woman and a young girl inside. The man who called was also found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

An investigation into the deaths is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, State Police and the Lowell Police Department.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, the prosecutor’s office said.

The identities of those who died have not been released, officials said.
