Three arrested in police chase after Mount Prospect shooting – NBC Chicago

Three people were taken into custody following a police chase that followed a shooting Friday night in the suburb of Mount Prospect, police said.

The shooting happened before 9:37 p.m. Friday, when Mount Prospect Police Department officers were called to the 1700 block of Chariot Court regarding shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and found two men had been shot, police said in a news release. Both individuals were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An initial investigation revealed that two men were in the parking lot of an apartment building when several people drove by in a white SUV and began shooting at the victims, police said. Several shell casings were recovered, and damage to the vehicles and apartment buildings was “consistent with gunshot wounds.”

After identifying the suspects’ vehicle using license plate recognition cameras, Mount Prospect police learned that another law enforcement agency had located the vehicle and apprehended three people following a pursuit, police said. Two firearms were recovered from the SUV, police said.

Police said the shooting was believed to be gang-related.

The three people arrested could face charges related to the pursuit. As of Saturday night, no charges had been filed in connection with the shooting, but Mount Prospect police said investigators are continuing to investigate the incident.
