Thousands of migrants invade US border (VIDEO) – RT World News

El Paso agents arrested nearly 2,400 illegal immigrants in 24 hours and will release them all to America

Some 2,400 illegal immigrants crossed the US-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas on Sunday evening. Fox News alleged that Mexican police and NGOs have helped many people enter the United States, where they will not be detained by authorities.

Video footage shot by channel reporter Bill Melugin showed “more than 1,000 people” crossing the Rio Grande to El Paso, Melugin describing the mass as “the greatest band we’ve ever seen.”

Figures released Monday by El Paso authorities indicate that at this crossing alone, 2,399 migrants were encountered by Customs and Border Protection officers in the previous 24 hours, while 5,105 were in custody in the Texas city on Monday, and 1,178 were released in the United States that day.

El Paso is a popular crossing point for migrants, 70% of whom come from Venezuela, according to city statistics. Neither El Paso authorities nor CBP are detaining these migrants, and once they are processed, they are then free to travel to the United States, provided they appear for a future court date.

The average wait time for these court dates is currently 785 days, and migrants in some jurisdictions are free to stay in the United States for up to 25 years until their case is finally heard.

This policy is known as “Catch and Release” and was reinstated by President Joe Biden during his first week in office. Former President Donald Trump suspended the Obama-era policy in 2017 and implemented the “Remain in Mexico” policy two years later, under which migrants seeking asylum were deported to Mexico to await hearings. of the court.

Record numbers of illegal immigrants entered the United States during Biden’s tenure, with CBP recording more than 2.3 million encounters along the entire Mexican border in fiscal year 2022, compared to 458 000 in 2020.

A separate video posted by Melugin allegedly showed Mexican police vehicles escorting buses full of migrants in Ciudad Juarez, on the Mexican side of the El Paso crossing. NGOs would then have received the migrants, before they entered the United States.
