‘Thor’ star Chris Hemsworth says he’s taking a break after alarming health report


Marvel star Chris Hemsworth has announced he is putting his acting career on hold after receiving disturbing health news.

Hemsworth has revealed he has a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease and feels the need to take time to explore what it means and if there is a way to ward off the disease.

The 39 year old man avengers the star discovered the problem in an episode of his new Disney + docuseries Unlimited that his DNA contains two copies of the APOE4 gene, and that he is eight to ten times more likely to develop the disease than the average person.

“Doing an episode about death and dealing with your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh my God, I’m not ready to go yet. I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of stillness and gratitude,” Hemsworth said. vanity lounge.

“And then you start talking about kids and family and saying, ‘Oh my God, they’re getting older, they’re growing up, and I keep putting another movie on another movie. In no time they turn 18 and they quit [the] house, and I missed the window,” the Australian-born star added.

“It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off. And since we finished the show, I finished the things that I was already committed to. Now when I’m done with this tour this week, I’m going home and I’m going to have a good chunk of free time and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife,” he said.

“I’ve had older, very experienced directors say, ‘Don’t do what I did. They say their kids grew up and they missed it. What was interesting was that they admitted fault, but at the same time they were still on set, still doing it. There’s an addictive quality to it, I think, to be in the mix and be part of the chase and be part of the adrenaline that comes with all of this,” he said.

Still, he said he has no plans to quit acting.

“If anything is going to take me away from my family and my children, it has to be a positive, constructive and collaborative experience. I am in no way talking about retiring,” he added.
