Thomas Muller wrote an emotional letter to the Bayern Munich fans when he revealed that he would leave the club at the end of the season after 25 years.
Muller’s agreement is expected to expire this summer, and he had to sign an extension to keep it with German giants for another year.
However, it was reported on Tuesday that Bayern had withdrawn their contractual offer after telling the 35 -year -old man he won too much.
In a long letter published on Instagram on Saturday morning, the veteran admitted that the club had gone against his “personal wishes”, but “respects” the decision that was made.
Muller wrote: “After a lot of speculation about me recently, I would like to use this letter to you as an opportunity to clarify things.
“Even after all these years, whatever my minutes of play, I still have a lot of fun being on the field with the boys and fighting for titles together for our colors. I could easily imagine myself in this role next year as well.

“However, the club made a conscious decision not to negotiate a new contract with me for next season.
“Even if it did not comply with my personal wishes, it is important that the club follows its convictions. I respect this step, that the board of directors and the supervisory board has certainly not taken lightly.
“I naturally did not like the back and forth in public in recent weeks and months. However, I feel the same thing about my football game: it was not always characterized by perfection either, but rather by thinking positively of the next action. After a moved pass, you have to win the ball with the Unity team. In the past few days, we have also managed to do so in trusted discussions.
“I can feel the appreciation of all the people involved for my long time at @Fcbayern and feel a deep joy to have played for my favorite club for 25 incredibly intense years. I will always remember so many great moments together.
Muller was used sparingly this season by manager Vincent Kompany, and it was decided that Bayern could not afford to keep him on his salary of 14.2 million pounds sterling (17 million euros) per season – one of the highest of the first team – while he is only a marginal player.
Bayern always wants to keep Muller involved in the club to a certain extent, and it is understood that they have developed a plan that could work for all parties.
According to Bild, there is a lot of interest in Muller of the United States, and Bayern could try to send Muller to their partner club to MLS, Lafc.
If Muller would make this decision, he would become Bayern ambassador to the United States and increase their appeal to the United States.
