This nasty stomach virus is spreading in New Jersey, health officials warn

After a busy holiday season spent with friends and family, millions of Americans are starting the new year by spending time in the bathroom.

The stomach virus is officially here and this year it’s particularly bad.

Norovirus outbreaks are at their highest level in more than a decade, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nationally, there were 91 outbreaks in the 14 states that report data to the CDC (New Jersey is not one of them) the week of December 5, a 32% increase from the week previous. For comparison, figures for the past three years show a maximum of 65 outbreaks reported in the first week of December.
