Mark another victory for nostalgia.
Netflix plans to restart the series “Little House on the Prairie” which was based on the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
It is a historic intellectual property with modern attraction, given that Nielsen recently revealed that the 50 -year -old television series was 13.3 billion minutes of time of vision on Peacock last year.
“I fell deeply in love with these books at the age of 5,” said Rebecca Sonnenshine, Showrunner and executive producer of the next restart, in an announcement for the project. “They inspired me to become a writer and filmmaker, and I am honored and delighted to adapt these stories for a new audience.”
Books were based on Ingalls’ life in the American Midwest at the end of the 19th century. “Little House on the Prairie” ran on NBC from 1974 to 1982, with the star of the time, Melissa Gilbert, Ingalls and Michael Landon as her father, Charles known as PA.
The books and the show focused on their family, notably Mother Caroline (Ma) and the brothers and sisters of Laura, Mary, Carrie and Grace, as well as the cities of Walnut Grove.
According to Netflix, “the new little house on the meadow is part of the family drama, partly a survival tale and an original part of the American West” and “will offer a kaleidoscopic vision of the struggles and triumphs of those who have shaped the border. “”
The new show will join a similar Netflix rate like “Virgin River”, “Sweet Magnolias”, “My Life with the Walter Boys” and the next “Ransom Canyon”.
Trip Friendly, chief executive officer of Friendly Family Productions, has a personal link with the new project. His father, Ed Friendly, produced the original series.
“It was a long -standing dream to continue my father’s inheritance and adapt Wilder’s classic American stories for a 21st century audience in a way that brings together fans of books and the original television series”, she said.
Gilbert, who is now 60 years old, has a company named Modern Prairie, which sells lifestyle articles for candles.
