This is my warning to anyone who has carpet in their home – and you’re not going to like it.

An Australian mother shocked the internet after revealing the disgusting truth about carpeted floors.

The Queensland woman was stunned when she used a carpet shampooer and discovered layers of dirt hidden beneath the ‘clean’ exterior.

She has two dogs, a cat and a toddler – and shared that she had new carpets installed just 18 months ago.

The mother vacuums regularly and didn’t expect her floors to still contain so much dirt, dust, hair and pet hair.

Although it is recommended to have your carpet professionally washed at least once a year, you can use a steam cleaner weekly or once a fortnight to keep your home as clean as possible.

An Australian mother shocked the internet after revealing the disgusting truth about carpeted floors.

The mother revealed that she recently purchased a Tineco Carpet One pro from Godfrey’s ($499, down from $999) on a whim and decided to test it out.

She shared images on Facebook of the dirt coming out of her floors.

“I’m very impressed using it with the automatic function,” she said.

“Plus, it has a drying function that draws in excess water and releases heat. »

It is not recommended to leave your carpets wet or damp as this may cause mold to form.

Another mom already shared a DIY tip for creating inexpensive carpet sprinklers at home.

The Australian named Emma said she used to buy branded carpet coverings from supermarkets for up to $16, but recently discovered she could make her own for a fraction of the price.

Emma mixed a packet of baking soda with a few tablespoons of her favorite essential oil.

“You can use whatever essential oil you prefer (be wary of cat oil, eucalyptus oil and a few others as they cause reactions),” Emma explained. “I just used a measuring spoon to make sprinkling easier.

“Much cheaper than a container of carpet dusting which usually only gives me one pass,” she added.

Simply sprinkle the mixture on your carpets, let it soak for 20 minutes, then vacuum as usual.

The mother said you can buy giant bags of baking soda (pictured), which is an effective cleaner and much cheaper than hosing down store carpets.

Emma recommends mixing baking soda with your essential oil of choice, but be wary of products like eucalyptus which pets may be allergic to.
