There are numerous reports that Samsung will use its Exynos 2600 chipset in some models of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The Galaxy S26 Ultra was expected to stick with Qualcomm and come with its latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, but reports to the contrary are emerging.
The latest suggests that Samsung will use the Exynos 2600 across the entire Galaxy S26 range, including its high-end model.
Samsung could go all out with the Exynos 2600
It is already believed that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Pro with the Exynos 2600. We have also confirmed this exclusively, while fans continue to hope that at least the Ultra will come with the latest Snapdragon chipset.
According to a report released today in Korea, that may not be the case. It reiterates earlier reports that even the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be powered by the Exynos 2600. This suggests that there won’t be a Snapdragon variant of a Galaxy S26 phone. If true, this would be the first time in four years that Samsung’s flagship has ditched Snapdragon for Exynos.
The Ultra sells the highest number of units of any flagship Galaxy S model each year. Fans love the device and expect top-notch performance. That’s not to say the Exynos 2600 won’t deliver it, but given the negative perception many fans have of previous iterations, they may need convincing.
Perhaps the numbers obtained by Samsung’s new chipset will convince them. The report mentions that Samsung’s internal testing found that the Exynos 2600 has 6 times the AI ​​processing power of Apple’s latest chipset, and 15% gains in CPU performance as well as up to 75% GPU performance.
It is even claimed to have 30% better AI processing and up to 29% higher GPU performance than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The report further mentions that Samsung achieved performance gains by choosing to install a standalone modem chip rather than packing it with everything else, thereby increasing the CPU and GPU area of ​​the chipset.
It remains to be seen how true this proves to be, but as things stand, it looks like Samsung intends to go all out with the Exynos 2600 next year.
