This Cape Cod B&B was just rated one of the best in the United States by Tripadvisor users

A historic bed & breakfast near the Cape Cod beach has just been named America’s Best for the second year in a row by Tripadvisor users.

The Needham-based travel site released a list of the 25 best B&Bs and inns in the United States on Tuesday as part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards for Hotels. Candleberry Inn on Cape Cod in Brewster ranked #1 in the United States and #5 in the world.

Last year, the getaway was named #1 in the country and #2 in the world.

Visitors to the nine-room Candleberry Inn on Cape Cod, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, have the choice of lodging in a main house or a Georgian Federal-style carriage house. A gourmet multi-course breakfast is served each morning and you can walk to the beach, restaurants, shops and art galleries.

Owners Marco and Angelo call their place a “beautiful, comfortable and stress-free place to stay” on the hostel’s website, thanks to their combined design and business skills.

The owners celebrated on the inn’s Facebook page on Tuesday, writing, “…delighted to be ranked #1 in the US and #5 in the world for Best B&B/Inn!! As this is an award based on customer reviews, we wanted to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to each of our past customers who have taken the time to leave a review on TripAdvisor!

Two other New England bed and breakfasts appear on both US and global lists: the Captain David Kelley House in Centerville, ranked #2 in the country and #12 in the world, and the Blue Horse Inn in Woodstock, Vermont, ranked No. 3 in the rankings. nation and No. 13 in the world. The Toulson court in Scarborough, UK, was the world No 1.

Eight other New England stays make the list of the 25 best B&Bs in the United States, for a total of 11: Camden Windward House in Camden, Maine, ranked #6; the #10-rated Captain Freeman Inn in Brewster; the Gazebo Inn Ogunquit in Ogunquit, Maine, ranked #15; Sea Street Inn in Hyannis ranked #18; Queen Vic Guest House in Provincetown ranked #19; The Trellis House in Ogunquit, Maine, ranked #20; Almondy Inn in Newport, Rhode Island, ranked #23; and The Featherbed Inn in Waitsfield, Vermont, ranked No. 24.

Several other New England destinations have been recognized in the travel site’s hotel awards:

The Whitney Hotel in Boston has landed a spot on the list of the top 25 hotels in the United States, ranking 20th. The best hotel was the Perry Lane Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel in Savannah, Georgia.

The Verb Hotel in Boston was one of only two U.S. winners on the World’s 20 Best Outstanding Hotels list, ranking 15th (the other was the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico). The top hotel on this list was Patagonia Camp in Torres del Paine National Park in Chile.

For luxury stays, Chatham Inn ranked #3 and The Nantucket Hotel & Resort ranked #23 among the top 25 luxury hotels in the United States. Hotel #1 was the Emma at Pearl Hotel in San Antonio, TX.

Among the nation’s 25 best small hotels, Topside Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, ranked #8; The Lyme Inn in Lyme, New Hampshire, listed #21; and Garden Gables Inn in Lenox ranked #22. The best small hotel in the country was Adobe Grand Villas in Sedona, Arizona.

Finally, Winnetu Oceanside Resort in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard ranked #3 and Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Jefferson, Vermont ranked #21 in the Top 25 Family Hotels in the United States. The best hotel was Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards for hotels were determined based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.
