If your dishwasher breaks and you need to repair it this summer, expect to find it more difficult to find an appropriate replacement part. Armstrong has said that replacement accessories of the device such as bulbs, filters, strings and grill parts can be a neglected category of goods because they are less flashy, but they are vital for the economy and often come from abroad.
“The supply chains do not often favor them to reorganize them until they are low. And many of them come from China,” said Armstrong.
Overall, you may not yet notice big changes in your purchasing habits, but they will become inevitable under Trump’s prices. In other words, you may not see the empty shelves right away. Armstrong has said that this will not happen at the same time, but that the supply shortages in some aisles will be “slow bleeding” over time.
“If nothing changes, I think the summer months are when we really start to see it,” said Armstrong. “First, things like toys will disappear. And maybe your favorite clothing items. And then, maybe some of the strange replacement parts you didn’t know came from China.”
