The Coachella Valley Festival of Music and Arts has used the three -day two -week model since 2012, and there are slight differences between the two events each year.
This year, the festival took over the Empire Polo Club in Indio on April 11-13 and 18-20 with the headliners Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone. For the most part, things remained the same with some differences here and there.
The two weekend is not exhausted
Over the past two years, the festival has not sold for weekend 2, which has made the experience of the festival less eventful for fans looking for a more relaxed coachella experience. During the first weekend, the producer of the Golden Voice festival aroused criticism from campers, participants in the festival and members of the municipal council for high traffic, which led to hours behind in the Festival des Campers and leaving the festival the first night. For the second weekend, we spoke to campers who said they were not struggling to enter the camp, although the traffic conditions on Friday April 19 were somewhat delayed due to an accident on Highway 10.
As for the size of the crowds, there were, for the most part, less lines for food, water charging stations and goods. The only downside of the weekend two is lines or crowds for other artists who obtained a popularity last weekend. The ball joint, for example, had an extremely long crowd to pass if you wanted to catch them with the tent of Sonora.
Slightly different performers
For the first weekend, Weezer was a last-minute surprise addition to the afternoon performance of the Mojave tent of the festival on Saturday. On weekends, Ed Sheeran took this place. At Maison Heineken, Cordae took the place of the Pharcyde, the weekend of the headliner.
There were also fewer surprise guests with most artists who only appeared for the one weekend. Most of the acts have just played a regular set, but if you have passed for Benson Boone’s on Friday April 18, you have at least obtained a cardboard cut by the guitarist of Queen Brian May for the Boone Rhapsody “Bohemian Rhapsody” cover.
From green grass to hay
The grass is literally greener on the other side of the festival, at least the first weekend. The sweet green grass formerly sponge that included the place is barely there. Festival-goers during the weekend were able to extend on the grass in plush, but on weekends, two fans obtained shoes and dirty stockings if they were not lucky to find a seat elsewhere.
Fresher
As a rule, the weekend, we had the chance of sunny but comfortable time, but the tables were shot this year. Time during the first weekend was more than 100 degrees on the first day, making one of the most difficult weekends. We have seen several people in the medical tent that landed there due to heat -related problems. The rest of the weekend remained in the mid-90s, which was not too much a difference but slightly helped.
As for the two weekend, the winds had blew up with cooler temperatures with the first day reaching 80 degrees but with a cold breeze. Before sunset, most festival -goers anticipate heat with short sleeves, shorts and skirts were visibly cold. Some wore hooded sweatshirts and others huddled with their friends after sunset. The cooler weather will not last completely because temperatures should increase by a few degrees with Sunday, April 20, culminating in the 90s.
