A Mexican vacation city named host of the Fyre Festival 2 denied knowledge of the event.
Billy McFarland – The man behind the disastrous First Fyre Festival in 2017 and which then served four years behind bars to defraud investors of $ 27.4 million – recently launched plans for Fyre Festival 2.
But after appointing Playa del Carmen as a host city, the local municipality published a declaration by keeping such an event away. The declaration (translated from Spanish) reads
“No event of this name will take place in our city. There is no existence of a register or plans which would indicate such an event which takes place in this municipality.”
Fyre 2 is announced as taking place from May 30 to June 2, 2025 with sales tickets for $ 1,400 at $ 25,000.
McFarland said in an article on social networks: “We will have DJs, rappers, reggae artists, pop stars, but also athletes, divers, models, pilots and creators who will direct the experiences of our guests.
“Fyre is a question of these intimate experiences. We will have dozens of artists in a private party setting.
Playa del Carmen is not the first location to be denied that it would welcome Fyre Fest 2.
In February, McFarland said he would take place in Isla Mujeres near Cancun in Mexico. The city’s tourist manager replied: “We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with a person or a business on this subject. For us, it is an event that does not exist.”
McFarland’s prison sentence occurred after the Fyre Fest Original – described as luxury event – has not held many promises. Publications on social networks documenting fraudulent fiasco on the Internet and the saga was exhibited in a pair of documentaries – Netflix Fyre: the biggest party that has never occurred And hulu Fraud.
