“There is only one Donald Trump”
Former President Donald Trump posted an ad on Truth Social Wednesday during Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign launch on Twitter Spaces, claiming the governor is nothing more than a Trump impersonator.
“Established politicians in Washington love to talk about how they can be like Donald Trump. The truth? There is only one Donald Trump,” claimed the ad, which featured images of DeSantis. The ad’s narrator said:
The one who gave us the biggest tax cuts in history. Who gave veterans the health care they deserve and who stood up to China and protected your work. One that has kept us out of endless wars while destroying our terrorist enemies. One who fundamentally changed the Supreme Court, was called the most pro-life president in history, and relentlessly protected our Second Amendment rights and our borders.
“Why should we settle for Trump imposters?” the narrator asked, cutting to an infamous clip from a four-year-old ad DeSantis aired when he first ran for governor, in which he and his wife Casey DeSantis showed how MAGA really was. then-gubernatorial hope.
In part of the ad, DeSantis holds up a Trump MAGA sign, teaching his daughter to speak, saying, “Make America Great Again.” There’s a rubber ducky sitting on his daughter’s table, who wears a notorious Trump suit and hair.
“There is only one starting day, the one that can make America great again,” the narrator added.
The release of the announcement followed the official launch of DeSantis’ campaign, which was marred by unavoidable technical issues.
