Unlike the protagonist of his science fiction series, Doctor Who The Russell T. Davies showrunner is a simple deadly without access to a Tardis – and, as such, has no patience for a certain type of criticism.
Davies criticized the audiences who dispute the diversity of The Time Travel Show, which is currently led by Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu. “Someone always raises questions of diversity,” said the showrunner at BBC Radio 2. “And there are online warriors who accused us of diversity and unlocking and involving messages and problems. And I don’t have time for that. I don’t have a second to endure it.”
Davies explained his reasoning. “What you could call diversity, I just call an open door,” he said. “We open a door, and there is the world, and you breathe it and your lungs are full of air and is cold and it is vigorous and there is a world in front of you! There is a blue sky. There is clouds and there is noise, there is a song of birds, there are people who argue.”
He continued: “Someone there is to dance, someone there is arguing. It is how to write, to put this whole world. Some people may open a window a crack.”
Davies said that others can choose to create from a closer vision of the world, but it has no interest in limiting its horizons. “Get your narrow window,” he said. “Here is a big open door, and you know these people who were dancing? Now, everyone danced, and it’s glorious. It’s the place to be.”
The showrunner also said that he does not know if his inclination towards a diversified narration was necessarily aware. “It’s life, and I think it’s the only way to write,” he said. “I think it is more difficult to write with this narrow window. This is really why. Why do you limit you? Why breathe exhaust vapors? Why be toxic? Come here where is life, light and air and sound.”

James Pardon / BBC Studios / Disney / Bad Wolf
Davies has already said Weekly entertainment On the way he had to throw Sethu as the doctor’s last companion. “It was the fastest” yes “. I remember that I sent an email, not only to the people I work with, but to the BBC, to Disney +-absolutely instantaneous answers, saying” yes, yes, “, he recalls.” We all liked it. So, it was actually one of the easiest casting pieces we have ever had. Joyous. ”
The screenwriter also praised the main performer of the show. “He is fierce. He is an unlimited actor,” he said about Gatwa. “It is a joy. It is a force in the world. I mean, I think that man is a great strength for good and it is a joy to work for him, to serve him with scripts that will show all these talents under the greatest spotlight, with the most noise and hassle and visibility that we can possibly bring together. I think we are proud.”
