A British health worker received nearly $ 40,000 by a court after colleagues compared him to the bad “Star Wars” Dark Vader.
Lorna Rooke, a British National Health Service worker, was remunerated at £ 28,989.61, about $ 39,000, after her colleague finished an online personality test on the theme of Star Wars in her name, who came to the conclusion that she had the same type of personality as Dark Vader.
A job court in Croydon in southern London described the incident of Roke’s “detriment”, which means that it has undergone negative or harmful experience in the workplace.
The incident took place in August 2021 while Rooke worked for the NHS blood and transplantation service, where it has been employed since 2003.
Some of his colleagues have taken a Myers -Briggs style questionnaire on the theme of Star Wars – a test that identifies people as one of the 16 types of personality, for example, introverts or extroverts, which helps to understand the preferences of the personality.
During the test, Rooke was not present when a colleague took it upon herself to stand in place of her colleague and to answer in her name.
Dark Vader, the notorious Galactic Overlord in the original films of the “Star Wars” franchise, was described during the personality test as “someone who was a very concentrated individual who brings together the team”.
Roke said the incident “unpopular” feeling it and added to his “stress and anxiety” to his workplace.
“Dark Vader is a legendary villain in the Star Wars series, and being aligned with his personality is insulting,” said judge Kathryn Ramsden in court.
Since the results were shared in a group environment, judge Ramsden added that it is not surprising that Rooke was “upset”.
Rook said during the procedure that Dark Vader’s incident was the “last straw”, led him to resign from his work.
The court, however, rejected the Rooke complaint that the incident had a “sufficient effect” on it to resign months later in 2021.
They also declared that direct discrimination on disability was “not well founded and is rejected”, as well as an allegation of unfair dismissal.
