Super bowl’s raid champion John Vella died at the age of 74, the team announced on Wednesday.
Vella, a former offensive line player, was a starter in the Raiders team who won the Super Bowl XI in 1977 against the Vikings.
He played most of his career with the Raiders, associating with 84 games for the franchise from 1972 to 1979, and serving as a starter during the team’s Super Bowl race.
He then played a last season with the Vikings in 1980.
In a statement published on social networks, the raiders called Vella as “star on the dominant attacking lines of the 1970s”.
“The prayers of the whole Raider nation are with the Vella family at that time.”

The raiders did not mention a cause of death.
After her playing career, Vella launched a raid goods company for fans called “Raider Verre Raider”, who turned out to be a success with fans of black and money.
All-American at the USC at the University, Vella became a second round choice by Raiders in 1972.
He stood at 6 feet 4 inches and was listed at 258 pounds during his career.
