A winner of the Champions League and former Barcelona star surprised football fans by appearing as an assistant in France.
Jeremy Mathieu, 41, had a wealth of success during his player career, winning two Laliga titles, two Spanish cups and a Champions League medal during his three -year fate at the Nou camp between 2014 and 2017.
The central rear also displayed five senior caps for France on the international scene, while representing Sochaux, Toulouse, Valence, Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon at the level of the club.
Now, five years after hanging up his boots in Sporting, Mathieu has remained connected to sport in a surprising way, working as an employee of the French Intersport store.
According to L’Equipe, the former defender works in an intersport branch between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, working as one of the managers in their football department.
The shop would have received hundreds of calls from football fans asking to visit the store to meet Mathieu, because a photo of the former defender of the former defender with a business uniform and photo with customers was shared online.

It is understood that Mathieu – who would have won £ 100,000 per week in Barcelona – works in Intersport when he trains to become a football coach.
Mathieu played on the bench during the final triumph of the Barcelona Champions League against Juventus in 2015, helping his team at a 3-1 victory which confirmed an emblematic triple under the former manager Luis Enrique.
Although it was mainly used as a replacement for the first team of team center Javier Mascherano and Gerard Pique, the versatility and the experience of the French were enormously appreciated by Enrique, which often used it as a cover of Jordi Alba on the back left.
