Washington – The United Arab Emirates are in Israel during the march of the Jerusalem flag of this week, characterizing it as an “annual show of uncontrolled violence and extremist provocation” while issuing a rare warning against Israel if Jerusalem does not take “decisive measures” against the phenomenon.
“It is completely unfathomable that, in the middle of the current carnage in Gaza, the Israeli government – incorporated by the presence of one of its ministers – contributes to allowing” the March flag, told the Abu Dhabi to the ambassador of Israel in the country issued by Abu Dhabi.
It was the second time that an Israeli envoy has been summoned by the Emirati authorities, and the first time since the start of the current Gaza War. A second familiar source with the case told Israel Times that the meeting of the Emirati Foreign Ministry had seen the hardest reprimand that Abhabi has ever transmitted to an Israeli official.
Emirati anger was particularly notable, given that the country has differentiated the other Arab partners of Israel who downgraded ties in various ways in the midst of the War of Israel-Hamas. Although he has limited certain public demonstrations of the relationship, the United Arab Emirates kept his ambassador in Tel Aviv, maintained daily flights to Israel and even stimulated economic cooperation.
But the scenes of the Monday flag walk seem to have been too much for Abu Dhabi to accept quietly.
Hundreds, even thousands, young religious nationalist participants were filmed by singing racist slogans such as “Death to Arabs” and “May Your Village Burn” while they were walking in the Muslim district of the old town.

The participants harassed verbally and physically attacked the Palestinian inhabitants. The revelers vandalized the property, but made a exception For a certain number of ATM machines which had signs to explain them to the participants that they belonged to the Jews.
An extreme right group participating in the march also deployed a banner calling for the mass expulsion of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Several far -right ministers participated in the march on Jerusalem day, which marked the reunification of the city in the six -day war in 1967, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with the participants during a ceremony that ended the event.
The police commissioner of Israel said that no arrest had been made and that only a small number of participants had been briefly detained, insisting that those who were poorly conducted were only one percent of the revelers.

“It is not an isolated incident. This occurs every year and each year after year, they allow it to take place without consequences,” said Emirati manager.
“We have specified – in no case uncertain – that we expect them to take decisive measures to put an end to this.”
“They would do well to take this wait very seriously,” said the manager.

A separate statement Of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates on its decision to summon the Israeli ambassador, Yossi Shelley, also challenged the visit of Monday by hundreds of Israeli religious nationalists at the Mount du Temple du Temple, known to Muslims under the name of Haram al-Sharif. Among the visitors were the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, who said that he prayed there in violation of the so-called status quo under which non-Muslim prayer is prohibited.
Ben Gvir said that his policy supervising the police upset the status quo by allowing the Jews to pray openly and to prostrate themselves fully on the Saint de Flashpoint site.
Ben Gvir was flanked during his visit by several legislators from his party and another far -right legislator was filmed separately by walking on the sacred site with an Israeli flag, declaring on several occasions: “The Mount of the Temple is in our hands.”
“Two young people stole goods in a Palestinian stand (on the Muslim Qtr market in the old town) and threatened me for a long warning that I should not take photos and erase the images.”

The Mount du Temple is the most holy place in Judaism, like the site of the two biblical temples. It is the third strongest site in Islam and houses the Al-Aqsa mosque.
The perceived modifications of the status quo on the Mount of the Temple evoke strong emotions and are frequently cited as a Muslim motivation for religious violence. Hamas called its devastating invasion of the south of Israel on October 7, 2023, “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood”, which began the Gaza war.

The press release from the Ministry of Water Affairs said that Israeli actions in Jerusalem “represent Monday” represent a dangerous incentive against Muslims and constitute a blatant violation of the holiness of the holy city “.
The press release indicates that Israeli action “targets not only the Palestinian people, but also the entire international community, which increases tensions more at a time when efforts should be focused on the end of the continuous tragedy in the Gaza Strip.”
Abu Dhabi called Israel to condemn “these hostile acts and hold responsible authors – without exception for ministers and civil servants”.
“The fact of not acting will be considered as a tacit approval which will only deepen the cycle of hatred, racism and instability,” added the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emirati, calling to maintain the status quo on the sacred sites of Jerusalem.
