‘The View’ hosts defend Ilhan Omar’s remarks comparing the US to terrorists: ‘It depends on who you talk to’

“The View” hosts Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg appeared to defend previous remarks made by Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., comparing the United States to the Taliban and Hamas, and said it “depends on the person you’re talking to”.
“What disappointed me was kind of the tropes, he constantly attacks Ilhan Omar,” Hostin said, referring to Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. “And yeah, she made that comment, all about the Benjamins comment, and then Nancy Pelosi pulled her, you know, at the back of the pack and said let me tell you something, that’s something for which you are going to apologize and she apologized.”
Hostin noted that the Democratic congresswoman had no such thing anymore and said she was more popular in her district than McCarthy was in her district. Haines said Omar compared “the United States, Israel, Hamas and the Taliban to all terrorist organizations” in 2021.
“She may have a lot more knowledge and experience in the very complicated relationship with the Middle East, but I found that being on a foreign committee and comparing the country to a terrorist, known terrorists , they are organized terrorist communities, not Israel, but Hamas and the Taliban…” Haines continued.

Haines continued to say that they were recognized terrorist organizations and co-host Joy Behar added that they were recognized in “this country” as terrorist organizations. Hostin argued that while talking about the Middle East, they need to have “experts” and someone from Palestine as well as a Muslim person involved in those discussions.
“There were votes she voted on, there were votes in Syria and the Armenians were killed, it was genocide, she voted present, which is basically voting no and so she talks a lot people slaughtered. , but there were two votes where she didn’t vote in a way that I would want someone on this committee to vote,” Haines said.
