The video shows that the police fatally draw an armed man in Golden Hill

Images of cameras on the body published on Wednesday show that the San Diego swat officers fatally shoot an armed man who would have pulled a weapon on a cyclist, led the police in a motorway pursuit, then crashed into a house of Golden Hill last month.

Enrique Cortez Jr., 37, would have threatened the cyclist in San Ysidro before fleeing officers while pulling his weapon in the air around 3:30 p.m. on April 14. The van he was driving finally crushed a few minutes later in the pergola of a house on the 26th street in Golden Hill.

Interim sgt. Bryan Shields and SGT. Richard Curtis fired on Cortez while turning the engine of the crushed van with a San Diego police car parked directly behind him, Investigators said. Shields has been with the department for nine years and Curtis has been employed for 13 years. They both work on the southeast division.

The County Sheriff’s Office manages the investigation under a reciprocal agreement with the San Diego police, therefore no non -course department on their own officers or deputies.

The published video which includes images of cameras carried on the body begins with text which indicates that the incident began around 3:20 p.m. on Blanche Street near Sanger placed in San Ysidro.

A caller reports that a man, later identified as Cortez, has a rifle and acts irregularly. The appellant then says that Cortez changed the rifle for a handgun, arguing with a cyclist and pulled a shot from the handgun in the ground.

The video goes to images of customer cameras that show that the officers arrive at a few houses from the place where the appellant says that the shooting has occurred. The two police officers begin to speak with the victim, who indicates that the man is on the street, always pointing the weapon on him.

“San Diego police, place the weapon!” One of the officers screams as they hide behind a garbage dumpster with their shot weapons.

The man responds by entering his vehicle around 3:35 p.m. and driving east to Blanche far from the officers, shows the surveillance video.

The suspect then takes four shots from the inside of his vehicle in the air by leading to Cyprus street, the text in the video reads. San Diego police are asking for Swat assistance.

An officer nearby in a police vehicle spots the fascinating van and begins to continue Cortez while he drives on Interstate 5 on the ramp in the direction of the north.

The capable helicopter images show that Cortez has made a distance from the traffic, avoiding cars closely with the back door of its open pick-up. The video shows Cortez which takes his hand out by the driver’s window, and sometimes, even suspended all his upper torso by the window, while he fled.

At one point, Cortez slows down his pick-up on the highway and pulls it towards a stop perpendicular to the traffic lanes. But a few seconds later, he takes off again and raised the neighboring outing for B Street.

Cortez then reaches 26th Street, a cul-de-sac, in Golden Hill. An officer of the K9 drives his police vehicle to the side of the van to try to prevent Cortez from continuing, but the man is able to accelerate before crashing into the pergola of a house on the residential street, shows the video.

The accident causes the airbags of officer K9. The officer was then taken to hospital with minor injuries and his dog was not injured.

Another police vehicle extends quickly behind the van to prevent it from reverse, shows the video. Cortez continues to run its engine and run the tires with your pick-up, filling smoke.

The officers are intended to shout orders in Cortez, but the man apparently refuses to comply. Curtis then runs on foot and pulls quickly with a long rifle while the car starts going back up its engines again, breaking the windows on the van. The man continues to run the tires, Curtis moves on the side of the van and shoots again.

The video edited cuts from Shields on the other side of the crushed van. While Shields runs to stand on the side of the police vehicle parked behind the van, the police heard the prescriptions of “not moving” and for him to pull his hands out of the van. Cortez sticks at least one hand of the pick-up, but does not come out. The pick-up continues to smoke and the tires continue to shout. Shields then pulls several times while the van turns once again, with smoke rising from the vehicle.

The agents then approach and provide Cortez with medical aid before the arrival of paramedical paramedics. He died on the scene.

The video ends by showing a rifle and a handgun that would have been found inside the pick-up that Cortez was driving.

Once the sheriff’s office has completed his investigation, the district prosecutor’s office examines him because all the shots involving the police, to determine if the police have criminal responsibility.
