The Trump administration is working on a plan to move permanently up to a million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip in Libya, NBC News reported on Friday, citing five people knowing the issue.
The plan is serious enough for the United States to discuss it with the management of Libya, according to the report, while stressing that a final agreement has not yet been concluded.
In exchange for the resettlement of Palestinians, the administration would release billions of dollars in Libya in funds that the United States froze more than a decade ago, added NBC.
According to three of the sources cited in the report, Israel was maintained in the loop on the talks of the administration on this subject.
“These reports are false,” said a spokesperson for the administration in NBC in response. “The situation on the ground is untenable for such a plan. Such a plan has not been discussed and makes no sense. ”
There was no response from Israel or the two rival governments of Libya to the report, who also declared that administration officials discussed an incentive supply such as free housing and possibly a financial allowance to encourage Palestinians to leave Gaza for the North African country.
An official told the American network that it is not clear where a million Gaza Palestinians could be installed in Libya largely without law, which was plunged into chaos and the division since the 2011 civil war in which the longtime dictator Moammar Gaddafi has been overthrown and killed.
The NBC report has also noted the logistical challenges linked to the transport of one million people from Gaza to Libya, especially without a band’s airport.

US President Donald Trump sparked worldwide perplexity in early February by suggesting that the United States “takes over” Gaza and transform it into “Riviera du Middle East” while forcing its Palestinian inhabitants to move to Egypt, Jordan or other countries. He has since said since no gas would be expelled.
By visiting the Middle East this week, Trump said he wanted the United States to “take” Gaza and transform it into a “freedom of freedom”: “I have concepts for Gaza which, I think, are very good. Make it an area of freedom. Let the United States get involved and make it an area of freedom, “he said. “I would be proud to make the United States, take it, do it an area of freedom.”
While the far -right ministers in Israel who have urged to use the war in progress with Hamas as an opportunity to restore the Israeli colonies in the gang welcomed the plan, the Palestinian authority and the Arab nations have rejected it.
Despite the public opposition among the leaders of the region, the government has progressed with plans aimed at encouraging the Palestinians to move, although the times of Israel have found no significant change in the policy of leaving Israel for the residents of Gaza in recent months.
