Dubai (Reuters)-The United States Arab Emirates and the United States finalized a technological framework agreement which should be signed later on Thursday at the last judgment of President Donald Trump on his three-country Gulf tour, a source told the case.
The agreement requires commitments on both sides to technology security, the source said.
An agreement with the United States, which has pursued increasing protectionist policies for years to limit China access to advanced semiconductors, would be a major victory for the United Arab Emirates, which seeks to become a global power of artificial intelligence (IA).
The White House, the US trade department and the foreign water and China ministries did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that Washington and Abu Dhabi were close to an agreement that would allow the United Arab Emirates to import 500,000 of the most advanced IA chips of Nvidia per year, from 2025.
